Call for papers
InfoDesign is an open access, peer reviewed, double blind pioneering journal in the field of Information Design. Since its inception in 2004, InfoDesign, founded by the SBDI (Brazilian Society of Information Design), has been at the forefront of promoting scholarly discourse and advancing research in Latin America and beyond.
In 2024, InfoDesign is celebrating its 20th anniversary. As we celebrate this milestone, we invite submissions for a special issue dedicated to reflecting on the last two decades of Information Design worldwide. Over the years, Information Design has evolved into a mature and multidisciplinary field, embracing a wide array of topics and technologies. A critical examination of this period offers unique insights into issues related to representation, rhetoric, cognition, emotion, visual design, aesthetics, and methodologies, while also fostering interdisciplinary dialogue.
We welcome submissions on the following themes, but not limited to:
We invite researchers to contribute their insights, experiences, and perspectives to this special issue, shaping the discourse on the past, present, and future of Information Design. Submissions undergo rigorous peer review and adhere to a double-blind review process.
Join us in commemorating two decades of excellence in Information Design and charting the course for its future. Submit your contributions to InfoDesign’s special 20th-anniversary issue until Sunday 23th July 2024.
Submission
Authors are invited to submit full papers (maximum 5000 words including all text parts). For this special issue, we will accept manuscripts written in English only. Relevant Reviews of recent publications or exhibitions on this topic are also invited. The manuscripts must follow the APA style.

Information design and technology
For some time there has been a growing interest in investigating the use of technology in various activities and areas of information design, both in physical and digital environments. As technology becomes more interconnected and indispensable in our everyday lives, this has become an important and urgent area of research. With this special issue, we aim to bring together contributions that focus primarily on the relationship between information design and technology, and report on emerging issues within this topic.

Lançada em 2004, a InfoDesign é uma iniciativa pioneira na América Latina, sendo a única revista científica dedicada ao design da informação na região e um dos poucos periódicos científicos de design publicados regularmente no Brasil. A missão da InfoDesign é a disseminação de estudos teóricos e práticos no campo do design da informação, envolvendo resultados de pesquisas em teoria e história do design da informação; desenvolvimento de sistemas de informação e comunicação; impactos sociais e tecnológicos do design da informação; e design da informação aplicado a processos de ensino-aprendizagem.
Editores Associados colaboram com a Editora-chefe e com a Editora-gerente, encontrando pareceristas apropriados para submissões a eles designadas, e mantendo contato com pareceristas, autores e Editora-gerente, a fim de garantir um processo de avaliação justo, rápido e preciso. Espera-se que os membros do Conselho Editorial incentivem autores a enviar trabalhos relevantes para a revista. Os Editores Associados devem estar dispostos a dedicar pelo menos dois dias por mês à revista e participar de reuniões do Conselho Editorial, que devem ocorrer uma vez ao ano. O processo de revisão é gerenciado on-line, por meio da plataforma OJS da revista, e as reuniões do Conselho Editorial devem ocorrer on-line via Google Meet ou recurso semelhante.
Nomeações para o Conselho Editorial são para mandatos de cinco anos, que podem ser prorrogados. Os indicados serão isentos de anuidades para a Sociedade Brasileira de Design da Informação - SBDI durante seus mandatos.
Os candidatos podem estar em qualquer lugar do mundo, desde que tenham acesso regular à Internet. Espera-se que eles possuam título de Doutor, e que tenham experiência com publicação e revisão de trabalhos acadêmicos.
As inscrições serão analisadas por um Comitê de Seleção composto por membros da diretoria da SBDI e do Conselho Editorial da InfoDesign. Ao fazer a seleção, o Comitê considerará o atendimento ao perfil de Editor Associado, conforme especificado acima, bem como o equilíbrio entre conhecimentos e habilidades do Comitê Editorial como um todo. São incentivadas candidaturas que ampliem o alcance geográfico do periódico, e a expertise do Conselho Editorial na área de tecnologia e sistemas de informação e comunicação.
As inscrições devem ser feitas por mensagem de e-mail enviada à Editora-gerente da revista, Profa. Dra. Virginia Tiradentes (v.tiradentes@gmail.com), justificando a adequação do/a candidato/a ao cargo, e acompanhada por curriculum vitae resumido, incluindo lista de publicações e participações relevantes em processos de revisão por pares.

Data visualization is now a mature field that showcases research in several multidisciplinary topics, mostly published in conferences and journals focusing on areas like HCI and computer science. The point of view of information design can offer singular insights on issues related to representation, rhetorics, cognition, emotion, visual design, aesthetics, data-driven design processes, and methodologies while, at the same time, cross-fertilizing these other fields.
