(Re)inventing Futures for Information Design

Abstract

The 12th edition of CIDI – Information Design International Conference featured the theme “Informing and (Re) Creating Futures”. This special issue of InfoDesign brings together papers featured at the event and selected through evaluation by the conference reviewers and the journal’s editors. The issue also includes articles prepared by the event’s keynote speakers. The work published here collectively consolidate Information Design as a mature discipline capable of articulating ethics, social justice, and innovation.

Author Biographies

Kelli C.A.Silva Smythe, Federal University of Paraná

Kelli C. A. Silva Smythe is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and Vice-Coordinator of its Graduate Program in Design (PPGDesign). She holds a PhD in Design (hospital wayfinding) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship on assistive technologies for visually impaired users. Her work focuses on Information Design, Human-Centered Design, accessibility, and user experience. She is President of the Brazilian Society of Information Design (2026–2028) and researches wayfinding and health risk communication for vulnerable populations.

Priscila Lena Farias, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design at the University of São Paulo (FAU USP).
