Analysis of cream cheese packaging colors using a color blindness simulator

Abstract

The present article carries out an explanatory research, in which the chromatic perception in curd cheese packages aimed at color blindness was evaluated. Color blindness is a visual dysfunction of colors, which affects the ability to differentiate between them. Through the use of color-blind color vision model simulators, it was possible to observe changes in the levels of red, green and blue (RGB) and hue, saturation and brightness (HSB). From the results obtained, the study seeks to emphasize the importance of designing with accessibility.

Lívia Victoria Ramos Ferreira da Silva, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

Livia is an undergraduate student in the Design program at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). She is a researcher in the scientific initiation project entitled 'Visual Diversity: A guide for early childhood educators on color blindness.' Currently, she is engaged in research in the field of color blindness, with a focus on early childhood.

Hércules Manoel Monteiro da Silva, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE)

Hercules is a master's student in Design in the Graduate Program in Design at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), focusing on Design, Ergonomics, and Technology. He graduated in Design from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Agreste Campus (UFPE/CA). He was a CNPq scholarship holder for scientific initiation. He is the Marketing and Creation Director of the Brazilian Association for Science Promotion (ABRIC). Currently, he works on the following topics: Assistive Technology; Universal/Inclusive Design; Ergonomics; 3D Printing; and Marketing.

Lucas José Garcia, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

Lucas is a professor in Design at the Federal University of Pernambuco (Agreste Campus). He holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degree in Design from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He works in the field of accessibility and inclusion, with a focus on color blindness and visually impaired individuals.
